I do most of the banking around here, even though are bank accounts are in Dave's name. Everything from ordering checks to paying the rent:) We use online banking a lot, and we can do almost anything online. We can email the rent to our landlord, pay utilities, check bank statements, even order checks online!

I ordered new checks last week but now that our address is changing, I am going to have to REORDER again!! UGGG!! I was snooping through the design selection – normally we just get the basic blue ones, but there are SO MANY designer check styles available that I am considering getting a fancy one, lol.

This got me thinking – can a check be used as a advertising tool? After all, in business, you want to find every possible way to promote your business. I know many people suggest including business cards with checks – but custom checks would be SO MUCH easier! Some Ideas:

1. Pick a design that showcases your business. I own a wedding business, selling designer fashions – and I feel in love with this design. It is VERY stylish – high fashion and trendy. Of course, I will have to get it for my account, cause Dave would NOT be impressed if he had his name on there.

2. Customize!!! Most sites will let you add a tag line above the signature area: this is the perfect place for your URL or business tag line! Alternatively, most places allow for 2 address lines: if you only use one, use the other for your business name, url or tag line!

3. Appeal to your Target Market. If you have a business that does not have a specific design: look for designs that would appeal to your market. For example: if you are trying to market to the kind of women who would be actively interested in Women's Issues – use checks that support that – Women's Rights Check, Breast Cancer Checks, etc. If your target market is other business – for example, if you sell gifts for business giving: look for things like Golf Checks – designs that are both professional, tasteful – and yet eyecatching and memorable.

So, there you have it! You have to buy checks anyway – might as well put your money to work!

INTERESTING FACT – Here in Canada, we spell it CHEQUES!!! Neat eh? lol
