I'm sure you've heard to saying “The money is in the list.”

From our experience both here at Piggy Makes Bank and in various niche websites and businesses the two of us have run over the years, it's true. Which is why we one of our first priorities is always to grow our list of subscribers.

A fun and effective way to do this is with content upgrades. It's a simple process and with our tweak, it's quick and easy to set up.

Watch this short video tip on how to use content upgrades to build your list.

Let’s talk about content upgrades. They are a great way to build your list and the concept is very simple. The basic idea is to share a piece of content that’s part of a series and then invite them to download a document that includes everything. Then share another piece of content with the same upgrade offer.

Here’s a simple way you can use PLR to put this together. Grab a ten article pack on a topic that’s of interest to your niche. Give them all a quick edit and tweak them to work for your target audience. Infuse your personality and add stories or examples that speak directly to your ideal subscriber.

Create a downloadable PDF of all ten articles together. You can add an introduction and a resources page, about the author page etc. If you want to get fancy, create a cover and make a quick graphic for it.

Then post each of the individual articles to your site as blog posts or articles. Set up a list funnel that delivers the PDF and at the bottom of each article (or even in the middle, or both) give them a chance to sign up for the full document.

Of course you could also sit down and write the ten articles or blog posts from scratch. But why would you if high-quality can save you a lot of time and effort.

The number ten is of course completely arbitrary. You can do this with five articles, seven, or thirty. Or whatever number works for you. The important part is to share a series of related pieces of content and also offer them all in one place in a downloadable format. That’s your lead magnet or freebie to build your list. Give it a try.
